High Rise Condominium – Florida
A 38-story high-rise condominium building located on the barrier island of Navarra on the Florida coast was damaged during a hurricane. The building experienced storm surge flooding, wind damage, and wind driven rain flooding. As a result of the hurricane the building was isolated from the mainland and was only accessible by boat. Power and all utilities were cut off to the building.
TGC was able to mobilize a team within a week of the hurricane and establish the logistics required to transport workers and tools to and from the site as well as establish a system for debris removal from the building to a local landfill. Without the use of construction elevators, TGC performed surgical demolition to remove all damaged windows, drywall, floor covering and content removal in a timely fashion to prevent additional damage from mold and mildew. The exterior walls facing the ocean had to be removed due to excessive damage and temporary supports were erected for the building to maintain its structural integrity.
